Public safety remains a top priority for District 4. District 4 is hosting a number of public safety community meetings and dialogues as well as resource fairs in an effort to provide residents with tools, tips and resources needed to live healthy, safe lives. Emergency Contact
In case of an emergency or if you are witnessing a crime in progress call 911.
Non-Emergency Resources
In case of incidents where there is not a crime in progress contact 311. This would include vandalism, stolen cars or a break-ins that are not in progress.
Reporting Suspicious Activity
If you see any suspicious activity in your neighborhood, call the police immediately. Remember to be specific and document every incident. Note the time of day, the exact location, the clothes, appearance, and characteristics of the suspect. Even if they do not respond immediately to the concern, your call makes a difference in building a case to increase police presence in the area.

Organizing a Neighborhood Watch
To start a Neighborhood Watch program in your neighborhood or to schedule a follow-up meeting, please call 408-277-4133 or get more information here. Periodic meetings of your Neighborhood Watch Group should be used to develop programs in order to heighten citizen awareness and learn about proper response to suspected or actual criminal activity.

AlertSCC: Register for Important Emergency Information
The City of San José is participating in a new Countywide Emergency Notification System that will provide timely and possibly lifesaving information to registered residents. The system will be used to provide emergency alerts in San José and/or Santa Clara County. Land line phones for home and business are already in the system. You’ll need to register to receive emergency alerts on your cell phone, PDA, or device for the hearing impaired. It’s a simple step that will help you be better prepared for an emergency.
New Lifesaving CPR App Now Available
Download PulsePoint, a free cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) “citizen first responder” mobile phone application (app). This new app is designed to help CPR-trained users in the San José Fire Department service area provide lifesaving assistance to victims of sudden cardiac arrest.
